About Lone Star Rescue Ranch
A Texas rescue ranch built for animals, people, and long-term impact.
Lone Star Rescue Ranch is being developed as a future rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, education, and therapy campus for dogs and horses in Texas. The vision is to create a mission-first ranch where animals receive exceptional care, people find meaningful ways to serve, and the community becomes part of a long-term solution for animal welfare.
The ranch is currently in Phase 0: Foundation & Funding. During this phase, we are building the nonprofit structure, donor base, volunteer network, planning systems, funding strategy, and public support needed to move toward land acquisition, construction, and future animal care operations.
Lone Star Rescue Ranch is not yet open for animal intake, adoptions, public visits, or therapy services. Every step being taken now is focused on building the foundation responsibly before the first animals arrive.
Our Mission
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs and horses while creating a safe, healing, and educational environment for the people who support them.
Lone Star Rescue Ranch is designed to become more than a shelter. It is a future working ranch where rescue care, veterinary access, adoption support, humane education, volunteer service, equine-assisted programming, and responsible innovation can work together under one coordinated model.
Our Vision
We are building toward a phased Texas campus that will eventually include dog rescue and adoption facilities, equine rehabilitation areas, veterinary care, volunteer and education spaces, therapy and enrichment programming, guest and donor engagement areas, and long-term support systems that help the ranch become financially sustainable.
The long-term vision is a ranch that can serve animals in crisis, support families and communities, educate the public, and demonstrate a modern model for rescue operations.
Our goal is to create a place where:
Dogs and horses receive safe, consistent, high-quality care.
Volunteers and donors can see the direct impact of their support.
Children, families, veterans, seniors, and community groups can connect with animals in meaningful ways.
Education, technology, and responsible operations help improve outcomes.
The ranch grows in phases instead of overpromising before the foundation is ready.

Why Dogs and Horses?
Dogs and horses both hold a powerful place in people’s lives. They are loyal, intelligent, emotional, and deeply connected to the communities around them. They also require serious, specialized care when they have been neglected, abandoned, injured, or displaced.
Lone Star Rescue Ranch is being designed to support both species with dedicated spaces, trained personnel, responsible handling practices, veterinary access, enrichment, and long-term rehabilitation planning.
By bringing dog rescue and equine rescue into one coordinated campus, LSRR can create a stronger support system for animals while also expanding education, therapy, volunteer, and community engagement opportunities.

What Makes Lone Star Rescue Ranch Different
Lone Star Rescue Ranch is being developed as a phased, mission-first, self-sustaining model.
The ranch is intended to combine nonprofit rescue work with carefully planned earned-revenue activities that help support the mission over time. This may include future education programs, events, lodging, sponsorships, retail, training opportunities, and other ranch-based activities designed to help reduce dependence on donations alone.
The goal is not simply to build a rescue facility. The goal is to build a long-term operating model that can grow, adapt, and continue serving animals for years to come.
Key elements of the vision include:
A dedicated rescue and rehabilitation campus for dogs and horses.
Future on-site veterinary care to reduce transport stress and improve medical response.
Education and volunteer programs that bring the community into the mission.
Future equine-assisted and animal-connected programming through qualified partners.
A phased funding and construction plan designed for responsible growth.
Technology and smart-campus systems that support safety, care coordination, donor transparency, and operational efficiency.
A hybrid sustainability model that combines charitable support with future earned-income opportunities.

Our Current Phase
Lone Star Rescue Ranch is currently in Phase 0: Foundation & Funding.
This is the stage where the ranch is being built from the ground up before physical operations begin. Phase 0 focuses on the essential work required to prepare for land, construction, staffing, animal care, and future programs.
Phase 0 priorities include:
Completing nonprofit formation and compliance steps.
Building the founding donor and supporter base.
Creating the volunteer and outreach network.
Developing the website, CRM, donor systems, and communication tools.
Preparing grant, foundation, and major donor materials.
Building the land acquisition and development plan.
Creating early partnerships with community, rescue, veterinary, education, and therapy organizations.
Raising the initial funding needed to move into the next phase.
Support during Phase 0 helps turn the vision into a real, organized, fundable project.
Founder’s Message
Lone Star Rescue Ranch began with a simple belief: animals deserve more than temporary rescue. They deserve a safe place, proper care, thoughtful rehabilitation, and a community committed to their future.
As Founder and Executive Director, Robert O’Bannon is working to build LSRR as a long-term Texas rescue ranch that brings together animal welfare, education, community service, and responsible innovation.
The ranch is being developed carefully and in phases because the mission is too important to rush. Before opening the gates, LSRR must build the right foundation: funding, land strategy, people, systems, policies, partnerships, and public trust.
This is the beginning of that work.
