I’m Robert O’Bannon, Founder and Executive Director of Lone Star Dog & Horse Rescue Ranch.

After years of seeing animals limited by slow medical care and outdated systems, I decided to build something better — a ranch where compassion meets innovation.

Lone Star Rescue Ranch is a 501(c)(3) - (pending) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and horses while pioneering the responsible use of AI, robotics, and sustainable practices in animal welfare.

We believe true healing happens when compassion meets innovation.

Our Mission

Lone Star Rescue Ranch is creating a 100+ acre phased campus in Texas where dogs and horses receive exceptional care in one mission-first environment.

Our approach includes:

Separate, purpose-built zones for dogs and equines
On-site integrated veterinary care
Education and community programs
Future hospitality and dining experiences that will help sustain the ranch long-term

Our Vision for the Future

Phase 0 – Foundation (organizational development, fundraising, and planning) — Currently in progress.

Phase 1 – Core Launch — Targeted for 2026/2027 This phase will bring online our Adoption & Welcome Center, The Hitching Post dining hall, Under the Hitch fine dining, expanded rehabilitation facilities, and the start of our AI-enhanced veterinary hospital.
