Lone Star Rescue Ranch is being developed near the Brenham/Bellville area of Texas as a future rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, education, and therapy campus for dogs and horses.

We are currently in Phase 0: Foundation & Funding — building the nonprofit structure, donor base, planning systems, volunteer network, and early funding needed to move from vision to land, construction, and animal care operations.

What we're building

Dog Rescue
At Lone Star Rescue Ranch, every dog that comes through our gates arrives with a story — and leaves with a better one. Our dog rescue program is built around individualized care, thorough behavioral assessment, and a rehabilitation process that prepares each animal for a successful, lasting home. We don't move dogs through a system. We take the time to understand who they are, what they need, and what kind of family will help them thrive. From intake to adoption day, every step is intentional.

Horse Rescue
Horses require more than shelter — they require understanding, patience, and space to heal on their own terms. Our equine rescue program is designed for exactly that. We work with surrendered, neglected, and at-risk horses across Texas, providing veterinary care, nutrition rehabilitation, ground work, and the time each horse needs to rebuild trust in people. Our facilities are purpose-built for equine recovery, and our team approaches every horse as an individual with a history worth respecting.

Veterinary Medicine
Exceptional animal care starts with exceptional medical infrastructure. Lone Star Rescue Ranch is being built around an on-site veterinary hospital equipped to handle everything from intake health screenings to surgical care and long-term chronic condition management. We are integrating AI-assisted diagnostics and real-time health monitoring into our veterinary program — not to replace the human judgment of skilled clinicians, but to give them better data, faster. When an animal arrives in our care, we want to know exactly what they need from day one.

Hospitality
Lone Star Rescue Ranch is designed to welcome people, not just animals. From the moment a visitor arrives on campus — whether they're adopting a dog, attending an event, or staying in our glamping village — they should feel the warmth, intention, and care that defines everything we do. Our hospitality program sets the standard for how guests experience the ranch, ensuring that every interaction reflects the values at the heart of our mission: compassion, excellence, and a genuine commitment to the people and animals in our community.

Food Service
The Hitching Post is more than a dining hall — it's the heartbeat of the ranch campus. Serving fresh, thoughtfully prepared meals to guests, staff, volunteers, and event attendees, The Hitching Post is designed to be a gathering place where the ranch community comes together. Good food is part of good care, and we believe that what we put on the table reflects what we believe about hospitality, sustainability, and the kind of place Lone Star Rescue Ranch is meant to be. Future plans include Under the Hitch, our fine dining experience for special events and private gatherings.

Artificial Intelligence
Lone Star Rescue Ranch is one of the first rescue operations in the country to place AI at the center of its model — not as a novelty, but as a tool for better outcomes. We use artificial intelligence to monitor animal health in real time, optimize feeding schedules, support veterinary diagnostics, manage facility operations, and track behavioral patterns that help us make smarter decisions about care and placement. We call it our Intelligent Campus, and it represents our belief that technology, used responsibly, can save more lives and stretch every donated dollar further.

Therapy
Animals heal people. That's not a metaphor — it's a clinical reality, and it's one of the most powerful things Lone Star Rescue Ranch is positioned to offer. Our therapy program pairs our rescued horses and dogs with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, developmental challenges, and emotional health needs. Through structured equine-assisted therapy, animal-assisted activities, and partnerships with licensed mental health professionals, we create experiences that go far beyond what most traditional therapeutic settings can provide. The ranch becomes a place where both the animals and the people who visit them have a chance to recover.

Future Ready Academy
The next generation of veterinarians, ranchers, conservationists, and animal welfare leaders needs real-world experience — and Lone Star Rescue Ranch is built to provide it. Our Future Ready Academy is an education program designed for students of all ages, connecting classroom concepts to hands-on ranch life. From youth camps and school partnerships to adult continuing education and professional development, the Academy ensures that the knowledge being built at this ranch doesn't stay on this ranch. It goes back into the world with every student who walks through our gates.

Farming & Ranching
The land at Lone Star Rescue Ranch is not just a backdrop — it's a working part of the operation. Our farming and ranching program supports the campus with sustainable food production, hay and pasture management, and the kind of practical land stewardship that keeps a ranch healthy and self-sufficient over time. We are building an operation that takes the land seriously — rotating crops, managing soil health, and raising animals with the care and intention that defines everything else we do here. This is ranching done right, from the ground up.

Recreation
Lone Star Rescue Ranch is a place people will want to come back to. Beyond rescue and rehabilitation, the campus offers a growing portfolio of recreational experiences — trail rides, glamping under the Texas sky, outdoor events, and the simple, grounding pleasure of spending time around animals on a working ranch. Recreation at LSRR isn't an afterthought. It's a core part of how we fund the mission, build community, and remind people why protecting animals and preserving open land in Texas matters.
