Horse Care

Horse care at Lone Star Rescue Ranch is built around safety, consistency, and compassionate rehabilitation—meeting each horse where they are medically and behaviorally and moving them toward long-term stability. Every rescued horse receives a structured intake process (health assessment, quarantine when needed, nutrition plan, hoof care, and vaccination/deworming protocols), followed by daily routines that prioritize clean stalls, fresh water, balanced feeding, turnout, and careful monitoring for pain, stress, or injury. As horses stabilize, the program shifts into rehabilitation and retraining—guided by veterinary oversight and experienced equine staff—using progressive handling, groundwork, and conditioning to rebuild trust, soundness, and adoptability. The goal is always the same: restore health and confidence.

Veterinary Hospital

The Lone Star Veterinary Hospital is the medical heart of the ranch, providing on-site diagnostics, treatment, surgery, recovery, and isolation for rescued dogs and horses while upholding strict biosecurity and welfare standards. Designed as a ~5,000 sq ft clinical facility, it supports everything from intake exams and emergency stabilization to rehabilitation care, with dedicated exam rooms, a surgical suite, diagnostic imaging (X-ray/ultrasound), an in-house lab, and controlled isolation/ICU capacity. Beyond serving resident rescue animals, the hospital can also offer limited community-facing services—such as spay/neuter and wellness support—strengthening local partnerships, expanding grant eligibility, and reinforcing the ranch as a comprehensive, high-standard rescue campus.
